Philadelphia Eagles (NFL Today)
Published in Library Binding by Creative Education (August, 2000)
Authors: Julie Nelson and Loren Stanley
Average review score:

For Young Diehard Fans Only!
I purchased this book as a gift for my 11 year old nephew, who is a big Eagles fan. I looked through the book before wrapping it, and could not believe how small or how cheaply made it is. The two laminated cardboard covers are thicker than the pages, all 36 of them! I counted only 10 color photographs inside, and several black-and-whites. The story inside starts in the 1930's and continues to the present. How do you cover almost 70 years of football history in 36 pages? The answer is: Not very well.

I must admit my nephew was very happy to get the book, but considering the price vs what you get, I thought it was a rip-off.

Wisdom from White Eagle
Published in Paperback by DeVorss & Company (June, 1970)
Author: White Eagle
Average review score:

Way Too "Out There"!
I bought a number of books by White Eagle, after reading and being so impressed with the book "The Quiet Mind". This book although expressing some of the same "feel" as a "The Quiet Mind" more than pales by comparison.

This book did stress the importance of doing and being "good", of being humble, of listening to the voice within and other very important keys to reaching a higher spiritual level. Unfortunately though, it also talked too much about life on other planets, and something called the "first great cause" and the "Seven Rays" (both of which, pertain to the sun), as well as angels, "dual souls" (male and female aspects of the perfect soul) and other, well frankly, WEIRD things!

This book got way too "out there" for my taste and belief level and it touched on all these unusual topics so breifly, yet so matter of factly... that I sometimes just didn't understand where they were coming from... or where they were going!

This particular White Eagle book is way too bizarre... but do read "The Quiet Mind", also by White Eagle, which is excellent!

Eagles Fly
Published in Paperback by Ace Books (December, 1982)
Author: Sean Flannery
Average review score:

it's example how to spoil good idea
hard to work - very big size hard to find answer or key or something else and so on and so on

It ain't the Odessa File
Frederick Forsyth is probably not quaking in his boots after this book came out, and I can see why. Unlike the Odessa File, this novel has no chance of winning the Edgar Award. This book is very stacatto, as if it were thought out as it was written. Mr. Flannery should take a hint from Mr. Forsyth, who uses extensive outlines before he writes. There is no subplot of any kind connecting the various incidents in this novel, and when the President is about to be killed, you wish they'd go ahead and get it over with. It's a shame Mr. Forsyth retired. I wish we had more thriller writers like him.

Not enough detail
This book read as if the author was in a hurry to complete a full novel in record time. Although the basic concepts were interesting, not enough detail was included, characters were hard to identify with, and the ending was rushed. This is not, however, reflective of the author's other works, which I have thoroughly enjoyed reading.

When Someone Dies in Texas: All the Legal and Practical Things You Need to Do When Someone Near to You Dies in the State of Texas
Published in Hardcover by Eagle Pub Co of Boca (April, 2001)
Authors: Amelia E., Esq Pohl and Eagle Publications
Average review score:

Disappointing
The death of one of my parents catapulted me into learning about the very large number of things that must be taken care of at a difficult time. Although not uninformative, this particular book struck me as somewhat superficial and rather disorganized. The intelligent reader probably would be served better by looking elsewhere.

someone needs to write this book
When dealing with issues of the law, precision is required. The grammatical errors, spelling gaffes, and slovenly editing of this book undermine the confidence one needs to make it of any practical use. This is a subject that deserves attention. Someone needs to write this book.

Black Streets of Oakland
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Holloway House Pub Co (December, 1985)
Authors: Kelly Eagle and Leo Guild
Average review score:

This story was a complete fabrication! Give me a break!
Give me a break, a hooker who LIKED her job. Kelly was totally misguided. And she glamorizes her "profession". She talks about how good she was, and all of the men who told her they "loved" her. Is she delusional? This can't be an autobiography. This is pure fiction if I ever read it. In the words of her pimp, 'BS, BS, BS'

The blind eagle : stories from the courtroom
Published in Unknown Binding by Early Stages Press ()
Author: Harriet Ziskin
Average review score:

TO INFLAME IS NOT ENOUGH TO FIGHT THE FIRE...
Harriet Ziskin's emotionally charged narrative of individual courtroom travesties in Oakland, California in the 1980's is probably fairly accurate in substance, but is anecdotal. The demographic, economic, and relevant social data needed for THE BLIND EAGLE to be an effective tool for social change are missing. 5/24/00

The Eagle's Talons: The American War Experience
Published in Paperback by University Press of the Pacific (July, 2002)
Authors: Dennis M. Drew and Donald M. Snow
Average review score:

Old book with new date!
This book was originally published in 1988 by Air University Press. This edition, with a 2002 imprint, is the same book with a new date. Obviously, there is much new in the history of American warfighting, starting with the end of the Cold War and Desert Storm.

For an much better, updated version of the book, check out From Lexington to Desert Storm by the same authors.

Eagles Roar: Air Combat With the Eagle Squadron in World War II
Published in Hardcover by Zenger Pub Co (June, 1981)
Author: Bryon Kennerly
Average review score:

Eagles Roar: Air Combat with the Eagle Squadron in WW II
The book appears to be more ficton than fact. According to Vern Haugland in his book "THE EAGLES' WAR", much of the action the author attributed to himself occurred after the author had returned to the United States in March 1941.

A Look of Eagles
Published in School & Library Binding by Bobbs-Merrill Co (February, 1973)
Author: Barbara J. Berry

A Look of Eagles; A Book to Break the Heart
I aquired this book on a whim because it was about horses and the price was right. I thought I was buying a nice children's book, that I could read to the children I care for.

It starts out nicely. It seems to be a pleasant story about a boy and his grandfather who are down on theire luck finding that special racehorse, a beautiful gray yearling called 'The Cat'. But just when you think things are going great, tragedy strikes. And just keeps striking, right to the very end.

The ending left me upset, angry and in tears, and makes me mist back up everytime I think of it. This book is a senseless tragedy, and unnessacarily sad, in my opinion. I am very glad I read it before bringing it to the children.

I do not recommend A Look of Eagles for children under 14, and even if you are over that age, all I can say, is it will only upset you.
